Belgian Ship Seized by Pirates
In yet another daring act of piracy, two ships were attacked off the Horn of Africa on Saturday by Somali pirates. Pirates attacked and hijacked a Belgian ship in the Indian Ocean that was on its way to Seychelles with a crew of ten. Some hours later pirates attacked a tanker that was Marshall Islands flagged and had sent a distress call when it was attacked with small arms and rockets in the Gulf of Aden. A NATO fleet patrolling the area chased the pirates to a Yemeni flagged ship which the pirates used as a “mother ship” and freed 20 hostages from the Yemeni ship.
